I have come to be the worst kind of movie cynic.

But when I got ahold of “I Am Legend”, I’d heard such good things about it, I thought I’d give it a whirl. At four minutes in I started to journal my MST3K thinking. In the end it turned out to be an account of what it is like for me to watch a movie. I once loved movies, all sorts of movies. A combination of going to film school and inability to see violence post-9/11 has sort of ruined Hollywood for me.

If you want to see “I Am Legend”, if you don’t like to hear someone complaining and melting down over nothing, don’t read any further.

Really digitally enhanced car commercial. A bit of post apocalyptic Times Square, ala “Vanilla Sky”. Throw in some “12 Monkeys”, 28 Days Later” and “Children of Men”…but when I saw those my mind didn’t close off quite so quickly. Okay, I really hated “Children of Men”, that might actually have been the last movie I saw in a theatre.

Dana was here! And she got me a present every day of her trip for my birthday, much like Chanukah! It was fabulous, but you get to hear one of the most upsetting nights…well, not really – just goes to show you how great it is when we get to hang out.
